Introduction
The Jobard family have been vignerons in the village of Meursault since the 1860s, with the domaine now under the supervision of 5th generation family member Antoine Jobard. These wines were some of the first brought in by Kermit Lynch in the 1970s and quality has only gone up since that time. These wines certainly have become harder to find over the years, but collectors should be aware that quality is high across the board in production from the Bourgogne blanc all the way up to their Meursault Charmes or Genevrieres.
“As other producers like Coche Dury and Arnaud Ente become even more difficult to find, Jobard has become the next generation of cult producers from the village of Meursault.”
Stylistically, Jobard’s wines are all consistently aged in barrel before spending a significant amount time sur lie in the cellar. There is no hurry in getting these wines to market, with the extended cellar time vital to integrating the oak influence. When young, the wines are taught and generally require a significant amount of air to show their best. As the wines age in bottle, however, the intense mineral structure softens, creating an opening for the sensual and generous trademark style for which Antoine has become known.
